The Antipatterns is a collaborative music project between John Quarles and Jason Baker. The Antipatterns sound ranges from atmospheric electronic melodies to punk. The music is best experienced in dark solitude with headphones cranked to 11. Shared influences for the group include Sigur Ros, and Nine Inch Nails.
John Quarles - John was born in 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas. John picked up his first guitar when he was ten and started his first band a year later. This band, which eventually became Firebrand, was together for 7 years. In college, he formed another band during his undergrad days at UT Austin -- Spybot. Spybot released a full length album -- Self -- and a follow up EP. Today, John continues with solo work, film scores, and collaborative efforts such as The Antipatterns. Aside from music, John's currently working on a PHD in computer engineering out in Florida somewhere. In the future, he would like to have a mad scientist laboratory and a sound-proof home-recording studio. A few of his musical influences are Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, and Sigur Ros.
Jason Baker - Jason is a software developer working & living in Austin, Texas. Music is one of Jason's favorite personal hobbies. He has self-published a few solo albums, and continues to work with John and other friends on various music projects. His musical influences include The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Orbital, A Perfect Circle, Sigur Ros, The Silversun Pickups, God Is An Astronaut, Matthew Good, and Greg Shark. Jason's favorite song of all time is probably "Porcelina of the vast oceans" by The Smashing Pumpkins or "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus. He can't decide.
